Are you a walk-by website?
Is there a shop in your town or city that you walk past frequently but very rarely go into? And when you do, you just browse and not buy anything? Well this is like some websites out there and it could also be yours!
It would be nice to have visitors who come back on a regular basis making you feel like all your hard work was worthwhile. You can if you:
- Keep your site up-to-date
- Make it interesting
- Ensure it is user-friendly
Using metrics can be very helpful in giving you an idea of what kind of visitors are coming to your site and how this can be improved upon to ensure that you get repeat visitors. After all, repeat visitors means more sales and better visibility, helping your popularity and ranking in the search engines.
User Experience
User experience has become very important on the internet, but I predict that it will become even more important over the next year. This is paramount for you as web designers and developers to think about and implement to keep ahead in your field and ensure that you are not left behind and losing clients.
So what is this User Experience subject all about?
The simple answer is how the user actually uses your site and whether it is easy and enjoyable for them enough to return and recommend to others. On a more technical plane, this is to do with HCI(Human-Computer Interaction) or, more specifically HWI (Human-Website Interaction).
Visitors Comments
Everyone has an opinion whether they be positive or not. But it can be hard to get visitors to your site to leave a comment. So how do you get these important comments?
Number Of Articles
The more articles on your site, the more likely it is that you will get responses. Regular submissions will bring back visitors to your site and these people are more likely to give their views. This will, in turn, improve the chances of new visitors to become regular and leave comments.
Comments Are Good
All comments should be accepted providing they have useful content to them. Spam comments must be removed as visitors will not want to scroll through masses of irrelevant views to find something interesting. Even if a comment is negative, these should be taken on board.
